Maggie McCarthy is a Graduate of the Marquette University Law School having graduated Cum Laude, in the top 20% of her class. While at Marquette, she received the Thomas More law Scholarship and The CALI Award for the highest grade at the University in Business.

Maggie worked at “Your Family Law Center” in Madison, Wisconsin and the Hetzel Law Office in West Bend, Wisconsin gaining valuable experience in the area of family law. Maggie has worked in all areas of family law including divorce, paternity, child placement, custody, child support, guardianship, adoption, termination of parental rights and relocation. She is a certified guardian ad litem as well.

Maggie was chosen by Milwaukee County’s homicide and sexual assault Judge, the Honorable Jeffery Conen, to act as his judicial intern in 2018. During that time, Maggie attended court with Judge Conen, discussed case disposition on a daily basis, read and analyzed briefs from both the prosecutor and defense, and drafted proposed decisions for Judge Conen's review.

This experience was invaluable and gave Maggie a look behind the scenes at what Judges believe are the important issues. Maggie's impressive work with Judge Conan led to a position with the Milwaukee County District Attorney's office. 

While working at the Milwaukee County District Attorney's office, Maggie drafted criminal complaints, attended court and worked with her fellow prosecutors analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of innumerable criminal cases and determining the appropriate sentencing recommendations.

Very few criminal defense attorneys across the state of Wisconsin have the type of experience Maggie obtained while working for one of the most respected Judges in Milwaukee County and being on the front lines in the Milwaukee County District Attorney's office.
